Pricing

I charge by the word, as follows:

The per word rate is based on the original word count when I receive the manuscript. If additional content is provided after this, the word count of the new material will be invoiced at the same rate as the rest of the manuscript.

When proofreading is required as a second-level check of the text following the copyediting stage, this is quoted separately as a different job as the fees differ due to the different requirements.

On long texts in particular, I’m always happy to work by installment, usually either by chapter or by a predetermined number of words, with payment split up and linked to each installment so as to spread the cost out a bit. I do like to have a final deadline and installment/payment points agreed upon before starting work, just so there isn’t any confusion and I can be sure to devote enough time to your project.

While I can often squeeze in work on a tight schedule, there is a surcharge appended for projects with short deadlines.
